I am an untenured faculty member, and I can understand why people in my position would not want to get involved. However, childcare is the most significant concern with getting back to campus. My son has allergies and has been going to school, but recently the nurse called me and asked that I get him because he was showing COVID-19 symptoms. This situation made me appreciate working from home even more so. But what if my son does come up being COVID-19 positive? There is a quarantine period for him and me. How would that affect my teaching if this happened in the Spring? Also, what if this happened to student parents? What if it was them getting the call from their child’s school. How would it affect their education?
